My name is Allie and I'm an independent artist and jewellery designer-maker from Newbold, Leicestershire, UK.
I have always had a passion for The Arts and from a very early age I learned musical instruments, dance and singing. I became interested in painting at school and studied Art at GCSE and music for my Diploma.
I began painting blown real eggs for friends and family many years ago and I am informed that many of these are still in existence and are treasured by their owners.I now prefer to paint plastic eggs and the designs are now from my own imagination, rather than the cartoon characters I used to copy.
When I'm out walking in the woods near my house with my dog (a miniature dachshund called Mabel who has her own series of children's books), I love to imagine unseen, secret worlds that might be there, among the brambles and tree roots. The fairies and talking animals who might be living there. These are the inspiration for my designs and the tiny toadstool fairy houses I paint, lead me to make some model fairy houses to place in the garden or in a plant pot - so the fairies can move in and live there. I began making them in air-dry clay but recently changed to using polymer clay due to it being easier to work with and waterproof.
Getting to know about using polymer clay led me onto making earrings out of it, still using nature and imaginary worlds as inspiration.
I love making jewellery - I am fascinated by the intricacy of the designs, having always been drawn towards miniature art. When I discovered silver clay I was hooked almost before I tried it. I just knew it was for me - a clay used to make tiny, delicate pieces that turns into beautiful fine silver, which can be made into jewellery? Perfect x
